Personalizing Your Taskbar
PC Setup Guide - Part 1 of 3
Overview
This guide will walk you through personalizing your taskbar to ensure quick access to the apps you use every day. A well-organized taskbar improves efficiency and helps you get to work faster.
Who This Is For: New hires setting up a PC for the first time, or existing employees setting up a replacement PC.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Open the App You Want to Pin
Locate and open the application you would like to add to your taskbar. Once the app is open, its icon will appear in the taskbar at the bottom of your screen.
Step 2: Pin the App to Your Taskbar
Right-click on the app icon in the taskbar. A menu will appear with options. Select "Pin to taskbar" to keep the icon permanently visible in your taskbar.
Note: To remove an app from the taskbar, right-click on its icon and select "Unpin from taskbar."
Step 3: Repeat for All Required Apps
Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for each application you want pinned to your taskbar.
Recommended Apps to Pin
The following apps are used daily and should be pinned to your taskbar for quick access:
- Outlook
- Slack
- Chrome (set as your default browser)
- Notepad
- Calculator
- Zoom Workplace
Note: Chrome should be set as your default browser. Refer to the Default Apps Setup guide (Part 2 of 3) for instructions on how to do this.
